Netsprint to Introduce IAP in Danish Publishing Group Berlingske Media
19.01.10
NetSprint and leading Danish publishing group have signed a contract to implement the Information Access Platform, which would enable, among other things, the search within published articles and online videos as well as the search by means of mobile devices.
Berlingske Media is one of the biggest press and online publishers in Denmark. It owns such web services as Berlingske.dk, BT.dk, Business.dk and ErhvervsBladet.dk. Its major newspaper is the daily Berlingske Tidende, founded in 1749.
The NetSprint Information Access Platform has been localized into Danish and will be first introduced in Berlingske.dk, BT.dk, Business.dk and ErhvervsBladet.dk. Later more Berlingske Media services will begin using the platform.
“We decided to choose NetSprint as our enterprise search solution provider due to its unique technology and vast experience in cooperation with big European publishers. The important factor in the decision-making process was also an attractive quality to price ratio” – said Torben Lundberg, CIO at Berlingske Media
IAP is a solution for big Internet publishers (such as online news services) whose objective is to effectively monetize content and optimize services. It enables the intuitive searches and contextual content associations. With the Information Access Platform the life cycle of published content is extended, as well as the number and length of visits, which in turn increases the advertisement profits.
The following functionalities will be introduced in the services of Belingske Media:
- Federated Search (search in multiple services)
- Mobile Search (mobile search)
- Auto Complete (autofill)
- Related Content (content association) with Entity Extraction (keyword extraction mechanism)
- Topic Pages (thematic websites)
Federated Search provides users with the collection of information from different online services of the same publisher. The search is possible for any document format and results are presented in a clear manner. This guarantees that users can have unlimited access to contextually linked information in a single search engine inquiry. Additionally, video files can be searched.
Auto Complete displays the list of possible phrases while typing. The list is based on the words and phrases most commonly searched by Internet users. Auto Complete is largely based on the Flexion Stemmer module, which enables the search of all grammar forms of a word in Danish.
Related Content („see also…”) is used to collect and display documents and links directly connected with the article read by a user. Related Content is based on the mechanism of keyword extraction and contextual content selection.
Topic Pages module enables the automatic creation of websites and thematic vortals linked to a given subject. The module dynamically presents content from the publisher’s archive to the user interested in a topic. The user gets easy access to a broad selection of information in one place.
Possible benefits of implementing the NetSprint Information Access Platform:
- Increased traffic between Berlingske Media services
- Extended content life cycle
- Longer website visits and more clicks (higher PPC revenues)
- Improved usability and navigation between different Berlingske Media services
- SEO support
- Increased loyalty of current and new users
- Bouncing rate reduction
- New sources of revenue – increase in advertisement revenues
- Building new online products on the basis of a search mechanism
- Increased competitiveness in comparison to other publishing groups.
This is another foreign contract of NetSprint in the field of Enterprise Search. Earlier contracts with Norwegian companies Edda Media (leading publisher) and Opoint AS (media monitoring leader) were signed. NetSprint IAP is an integrated solution for large online publishers including news services.
