NetSprint Information Access Platform - a new Enterprise Search solution in the European market
03.09.2008
NetSprint introduces a solution for searching and contextual presentation of website content – NetSprint Information Access Platform. The solution is addressed to major European online publishers (e.g. news portals) who want to make use of their content in an optimal way. NetSprint IAP improves website usefulness and makes it easier for users to find all the information they are looking for. After the implementation, the system significantly increases the number of portal users and views, which results in increased advertising revenues. The solution supports websites in 3 language versions: English, Norwegian, and Polish. NetSprint Information Access Platform will support 15 European languages in very short time perspective.
NetSprint Information Access Platform is an integrated solution used for searching and contextual presentation of website content, as well as for displaying contextual ads. The new solution combines four modules: Content Search, Related Articles, Topic Pages and Contextual Advertising. The solution is either implementing now or will be done in Scandinavian countries till the end of this year.
NetSprint Information Access Platform Functionality
The linguistically advanced search solution allows users to quickly find the information they seek within all the websites owned by a given publisher, regardless published space. The search engine module presents the search results intuitively, including an option to sort the results according to multiple attributes. One of the major improvements throughout the search process is the option to restrict the search to a given category of topics.
The Related Articles is used to present contextually related links and content from various sources owned by the same publisher (e.g. next to an article about a new Nokia model, other related articles, forum posts, products and classified ads can be automatically displayed). The Topic Pages module offers an option to automatically create thematic pages and vortals related to a specific topic (e.g. Barack Obama, mortgage loans, or current EU jurisdiction). The module dynamically presents all the content available from publishers’ websites to users interested in a given issue. The solution also improves the accessibility and position of publishers’ websites in search engines (e.g. Google or NetSprint).
Contextual advertising consists of ads displayed in search results or on specific websites – always in relation to user searches or the contents of the currently browsed article. By displaying this kind of ads on websites, publishers can significantly boost their advertising revenues. As part of a NetSprint IAP implementation, publishers can also make use of the Adkontekst Premium program, which, in addition to presenting ads, can be used to sell contextual boxes on their own websites or within the entire partner network.
NetSprint Information Access Platform Implementation Benefits
NetSprint Information Access Platform offers the following benefits:
- Collecting all website content, both structured and unstructured
- Easier access to information by users due to an efficient and effective search engine, which results in increased traffic on publishers' websites.
- Increase in user loyalty, due to the efficient
search engine - for most users searching is a basic method of navigating and
making use of the content presented on the Internet.
- Increase in traffic and the average website
visiting time, thanks to the thematically related content being presented in a
clear and intuitive way.
- Increase in publishers’ revenues due to the increased
number of website users, the longer visiting times and the contextual
advertising.
- Improved website position in search engine results – through creating new vertical websites devoted to a given topic.
- New advertising space (topic pages).
- Maximizing content re-use on visited websites
(topic pages, related articles).
- Gaining a competitive edge by minimizing the time necessary for starting new vertical websites (topic pages).
The new solution uses a scalable architecture that makes it possible to expand repositories easily, if there is a large increase in the amount of data – after adding another server, the system’s efficiency increases almost linearly. NetSprint Information Access Platform is based on the proprietary, universal technology NetSprint Advanced Search Platform.
“The new solution is a result of our research into a concept of a search-based system that in addition to improving website usefulness allows publishers to maximize revenues and acquire new users. The search-based systems offered so far both by our company, as well as the competition, have become insufficient for major publishers, because they utilized search engines mostly as a method of improving website navigation. We wanted to take a step forward and, in response to market needs, offer an integrated, reasonably-priced solution”, says Jakub Polkowski, International Operations Director NetSprint.pl.
